Ardanaiseig on Loch Awe

Yesterday we took a visit to a wonderful location - new to us - but less than 25 miles from us. It is a Hotel, but originally built as the residence for one of the many Campbell lairds that pepper Argyll. The house was designed by the Victorian architect William Burn, who was the inspiration behind many of Edinburgh's finest town houses.

Our visit was occasioned by business - Gill's wedding flowers, but it was a special opportunity to see a beautiful country house and gardens in the traditional Scottish style... and in Spring too, when the Rhododendrons and Azaleas are at their best. Note in the last group - you can make out Kilchurn Castle across the loch in the middle of the dip in the land.
